At Smiley PDF, we believe your personal documents, financial statements, medical records, and reading materials belong exclusively to you. Unlike many modern document applications that monetize through behavioral tracking, ads, or background cloud processing, Smiley PDF is engineered as a strictly local-first, privacy-by-design application.

All document rendering, text extraction (OCR), searching, zooming, and modifications occur entirely inside your device’s local memory and processor.

• Sandboxed Directories: Saved files are kept in the app’s secure local storage (Saved PDFs).
• Air-Gapped Operation: The app functions with full capabilities in complete offline/airplane mode with zero degradation.
• Zero Server Sync: We do not operate remote document storage or cloud sync for document contents.

Smiley PDF provides physical on-device folders to help you organize documents:

Moving a document between folders simply moves the file between on-device directories without creating copies or cloud traces.

Using an account is optional. You can use all core PDF reading and library features without logging in.

If you optionally choose to sign in (via Google Sign-In with Firebase), only the minimum necessary identity tokens (User UID, email address, display name, and photo URL provided by Google) are securely used to maintain your session.

Important Notice: Your account record contains only authentication metadata. No PDF filenames, contents, or reading history are ever associated with your online account.

Smiley PDF requests only the minimal OS permissions required to perform local tasks:

Smiley PDF does not contain:

• Any advertising networks or commercial banners
• Third-party analytics SDKs (e.g. tracking your screen views or reading duration)
• Data brokers or automated profiling mechanisms
• Bloatware, push marketing notifications, or deceptive upsells

Because all files reside on your device, deleting a document from Smiley PDF permanently deletes it from your storage immediately.

If you signed into an optional account, you can tap Sign Out or permanently delete your online account and all associated profile data at any time via our automated deletion portal.
